CBH and BBSA Make Medical History

Primary Obesity Surgery Endoluminal or POSE procedure is an investigational procedure and is performed at less than 10 locations around the country. POSE is very similar to the ROSE procedure, but on a stomach that has never been surgically altered. Dr. Peter Denk is the newest member of the Bluegrass Bariatrics team, and he provides the expertise to perform this ground-breaking procedure. To perform POSE, Dr. Denk used a set of endoscopic surgery tools known as the EndoSurgical Operating System (TM) (EOS), manufactured by USGI Medical, and a flexible endoscope to visualize the stomach. He inserted the scope and the EOS through the mouth and then used EOS tools to grasp the stomach tissue and deploy suture anchors to create multiple tissue folds in the stomach wall to reduce its capacity. The patient returned home the same day, and was back at work within 48 hours.
