Laparoscopic Greater Curvature Plication

Similar to laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, the Laparoscopic Greater Curvature Plication also known as the LGCP is a restrictive procedure limiting the volume of food your stomach can hold. Unlike the sleeve however, your stomach will not be cut, it will be sewn into a small tube shape. The word “plication” means to fold in. With the LGCP, the surgeon will fold in and suture or sew the large, curved part of your stomach called the greater curvature. Because the stomach and bowel are not cut, there is a very rare and much lower chance of gastric leak. Additionally, nothing is removed, nothing is implanted. This is the lowest risk procedure of all bariatric surgery procedures offered at Central Baptist Hospital.
Hospital Stay: Overnight
Weight Loss: Approximately 50% excess body weight the first year, 63% by the end of the second year
This is considered an investigational procedure and therefore, will not be covered by any insurance policy.

Because our surgeons have such low complication rates, a warranty program is available for the LGCP and all the surgical procedures performed by Dr. Weiss and Dr. Oldham. BLIS insurance and financing terms can be discussed with the financial/insurance counselors at the BBSA office when you come in for your first consult.
All primary bariatric surgeries performed by BBSA surgeons are laparosopic, also known as minimally invasive.
